We would welcome the opportunity
to have you join our family.
Our membership is diverse, ranging from
high school students to local business owners. No
previous experience is required; we provide all your training. There
is a volunteer position for everyone, even if you do not have
a desire to fight fire or respond to emergency calls.
The requirements for membership include a background
check, a physical, which is provided by The Somerset Volunteer
Fire Department, and the successful completion of our application
process including an interview with the Investigation committee.
If you live in our 911 call area, we sure
could use your help.We currently have 3 classifications
of membership.
1. “Active
Firefighting”
For those that want a physical and
mental challange, this category of membership does it all
including actively fight fire and participate in the emergency
response or specialty teams (SCUBA or Haz-Mat). This
classification of membership requires the most training and
work.
2. “Associate
Membership”
For
those that want to help, but are not interested in the emergency
response activity
. In this classification of membership, you can help out with
the non-emergency functions of our department including fund
raising, equipment maintenance, civic activities, etc...
3. “Junior
Membership”
For those
between the ages of 14 and 18. A great place to learn job skills
and give something back to your community.
If you are not able
participate in one of our classifications of membership, financial
contributions are always welcomed and greatly appreciated. We
have bingo every Wednesday evening. For more information on how you can volunteer
